A paddle board, otherwise known as a SUP or Stand Up Paddleboard, is configured similarly to a surfboard, but is usually longer, thicker, and much more stable than a traditional surfboard. The operator of a paddle board stands upright on the board and propels it through the water by using a long paddle.
It really depends on how far you want to paddle and how strong the wind is. Stand up paddle boarding can be as leisurely or strenuous as you (or the wind) want to make it. In fact, the beauty of paddle boarding is that it is so incredibly versatile. As long as you can kneel, stand, and paddle, you should have an awesome time!
Yes! We even have more information about how to paddle board listed above.
Each paddler 13 years of age or older must have a USCG-approved Type I, II, III, or appropriate Type V life jacket. A child 12-years old or younger must wear their USCG-approved life jacket. The jacket must be in “serviceable condition,” without rips, tears or deterioration that will diminish its performance. The jacket must be of an appropriate size and fit for the wearer. A Type V jacket can be used as long as it’s USCG-approved and applicable for the activity.
A whistle or other sound producing device must be carried to warn other boaters. If you’re on the water after sunset, you need to have a flashlight, or similar lighting device, to warn other boaters.
You may lose all, or part of your reservation depending on how busy the day is. We will try to accommodate you, but out of fairness to others you might lose your time. Your reservation begins at the time you reserve the board, not when when you actually begin paddling.
You might, but most paddle boarders do not. Don’t expect to fall in, but be prepared to fall in. Leave behind anything you don’t want to get wet. It is very easy to get back on the SUP boards from the water.
The rental rate is inclusive of all equipment necessary to get you on the water. You will be provided with a board or kayak, paddle and personal flotation device that is appropriately sized for you. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your reservation to allow enough time for proper outfitting.
You can wear whatever you want as long as you don’t mind getting it wet! Most participants wear a swimsuit, board shorts, athletic or performance attire, etc. UV protective clothing is recommended, but not required. You must wear some type of footwear to get from our shop to the dock.
We do not allow alcohol. We want you to have a great time but safety is always our top priority. Alcohol and water do not mix! This is also a very family oriented activity and we want all of our customers to enjoy their time with us.
